GRANBURY, Texas—Josiah and his family are alive today—all because of a new job.
The 26-year-old father of two and his family were supposed to be home the night the tornado devastated this north Texas community. But thanks to a new job, everyone was out of the house.
They returned to find their home destroyed, with only a small section in the middle still standing.
“If I’d had my old job, my family would have been home and probably wouldn’t have made it,” Josiah told OBI staff.
Operation Blessing was one of the only groups allowed access into the affected area this weekend, and teams immediately began helping homeowners like Josiah salvage items and begin clearing debris.
“The Operation Blessing volunteers have been great today,” he said. “I wouldn’t have known what to do.”
The Home Depot also pitched in to help, supplying tools such as shovels, wheelbarrows, gloves and volunteers to help residents in the clean up process.
