PREY SNEAT, Cambodia – When little Sothea was born with a cleft lip, his mother feared for his wellbeing and for his future.
Sothea had difficulty eating, endangering his health and hindering his growth. And as he grew, his mother, Ram, knew he would face societal shame as a result of his condition—making school attendance and community involvement difficult.
She tried to seek medical care for her son, but the local health center was unable to help him, and she didn’t have the resources to take him to a hospital.
Then Ram met a child who had been helped by Operation Blessing and learned about the surgical sponsorship program—giving her new hope. Soon, Operation Blessing scheduled a surgery for Sothea free of charge to the family. Today, little Sothea is all smiles with a bright future.
“Thank you for your love and care for us,” Ram said. “Sothea looks handsome now—he can eat and drink properly. Thank you!”
